Hello
I'm Helen Card, CSW, and I'm passionate about empowering individuals to find their voices, heal from trauma, and live authentically.
Originally from Northern California, I moved to Utah in 2009. I'm a mom of five and have three grandchildren. My personal experiences, including divorce after a 23-year marriage and then remarriage, have given me a unique perspective on life's transitions.
My Story
Three years ago, I transitioned from retail operations to working in a non-profit focused on poverty alleviation. This experience inspired me to return to school and earn my Master of Social Work degree from UVU. I have a deep passion for working with the LGBTQ+ community, as all of my children and I identify as LGBTQ+, including my trans daughter. For the past year, I've worked with women healing from domestic violence and sexual assault. I take a strengths-based approach, empowering individuals to move through their trauma and embrace their authentic selves. My experience includes working with trauma, faith transitions, gender dysphoria, adoption, eating disorders, PTSD, depression, and stress. I utilize humanistic, CBT, DBT, and strengths-based modalities. I'm also trained in ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), an evidence-based practice I use for trauma, anxiety, and PTSD.
I am supervised by Jenivee Akalis, LCSW (7957629-3501).
