Hello
I'm Angela Nelson, LCSW, and I'm passionate about empowering individuals to overcome challenges and live more meaningful lives. I offer telehealth services only and am a Spanish speaker.
My own life experiences, including navigating difficult situations, have instilled in me a deep understanding of the power of therapy and the importance of mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It's what drew me to clinical social work and psychology.
My Story
Coming from a Hispanic background, I'm committed to providing therapeutic services in Spanish. I believe that culture profoundly influences our beliefs and behaviors, and that the ability to fully express ourselves in our native language is essential for achieving our goals. I'm passionate about working with the Hispanic community and prioritize building a strong therapeutic relationship with each client, creating a safe and non-judgmental space, and highlighting personal strengths to help them overcome obstacles. I earned my Bachelor’s in Science in Psychology and my Master’s in Social Work from Brigham Young University. My approach integrates various modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Relapse Prevention, Motivational Interviewing, and EMDR. Throughout my career, I've worked with individuals struggling with addiction and recovery, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, self-esteem issues, self-harm, eating disorders, abusive relationships, marital problems, and stress management. My experience working with substance use in Utah County has fueled my passion for helping combat the opioid crisis in Utah.
In my free time, I enjoy knitting, crocheting, sewing, photography, and spending time with my husband and three cats. Having grown up in Florida, I love anything related to sea life or the beach, and I enjoy traveling. My TV guilty pleasures range from Dateline and The Bachelorette to The Good Place, Hell's Kitchen, MasterChef, and The Office.
